Position Summary

This recruitment is to establish an applicant pool for future vacancies.Individuals will be contacted as vacancies occur.

Basic Function
Prepare and teach a variety of art courses.The successful candidate will be flexible in his/her ability to achieve the instructional and general responsibilities of the position. The position reports to the Dean for Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences and Transitional Studies, works closely with the Humanities Program Chair as well as art department faculty.

Essential Functions

  • Prepare and teach a variety of art courses, depending on student need and candidates strengths.Course topics include:Two-dimensional design, sculpture and photography.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Masters degree in Art, or closely related field, from an accredited college or university.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in teaching art in higher education.
  • Experience in managing lab settings for art classes.
  • Experience with technology in teaching.
  • Demonstrated successful community college teaching experience in a diverse environment.

  • Dynamic, non-traditional delivery methods to teach students of widely varying levels of proficiency and from diverse backgrounds, abilities, and learning styles.
  • Experience using computers as an instructional aid in and out of the classroom to enhance learning.
  • An appreciation of diversity and the benefits of a commitment to cultural awareness and sensitivity in the workplace.
  • Excellent customer service skills; including establishing, building, and maintaining internal/external customer satisfaction.
  • Ethics and integrity.
  • Competence in teaching a variety of art classes with emphasis on sculpture and photography.
  • Competence in teaching a diverse body of students, with a wide range of vocal experience.
  • Competence in teaching basic art technique, as well as more advanced concepts.
  • Experience in art education as well as be willing and able to teach a wide variety of students with a wide range of musical experience.

Terms of Employment This is an adjunct faculty position for Winter quarter 2015 . The salary for adjunct faculty is $753.00 per credit hour and $376.50 per lab credit which includes scheduled class time and final exam days as well as time for class preparation, weekly office hours, and grading tasks. TCCs art classes are either 55 hours of lecture or a combination of 44 hours of lecture and 22 hours of lab. The class schedule and credits may vary. Classes assigned to the successful candidate will be fully on campus with an online learning management system (Canvas) component for some class materials. A collective bargaining agreement exists, and membership in the TCC Federation of Teachers or payment of a service fee may be required.
